Hello and welcome to my Driveway Veggie Patch website.
My driveway veggie patch began its life in early 2018.
During a renovation the previous year, the old concrete driveway along the side of my house had to be lifted to add to the required soft surface ratio on our property. The builder used to joke that the area would make a great grassed cricket pitch. I had other ideas for the space, visualising an area to finally have a dedicated area to grow food on my Sydney suburban block.
I employed a carpenter to work on the space with me. He built three raised garden beds along the driveway. A path made from sleepers was installed and the ground area was covered with small Nepean River pebbles.
I've already grown many winter and summer cropping veggies. Herbs and edible flowers also feature throughout my garden.
Although this is a newish area for me to grow edible plants, this is not my first time growing food. I have been growing food in pots and smaller garden beds for many, many years. Herbs in particular have been a long time favourite to grow as I have a great love of cooking.
I love having a dedicated area to grow, enjoy and relax. I'll be sharing my growing adventures here on my Driveway Veggie Patch website.
Thanks for visiting.
